In this photo series 'The Venetians' I tried my best to filter out all of the touristic activities and the obvious wow factors that Venice offers, but rather, directed my attention toward observing and documenting the lives of the locals. What makes Venice so unique is how the people have adapted to its day to day logistics. Being surrounded by water, everyday life becomes pretty interesting. I intended to single out and capture a narrative of local life.
I am fascinated by the way people choose to live their lives and observe how they go about it. It is no secret that our surroundings and culture has a direct influence on our work, daily routine and mental health.
Almost every image in this series is not only a depiction of a beautiful Venetian montage but an effort to share the stories and events of the people depicted in the photos. More importantly to share a glimpse of the emotions, feelings, frustrations and livelihood of the lives of the locals in Venice.
